Carlos Tevez is hoping that Argentina are able to overcome the disappointments with regard to major tournaments and finally be crowned as the champions of the 2016 Copa America. The national team have reached the final of the competition where they will face holders Chile. The game is a rematch of last year’s final, which was a normal Copa America held in South America. This time around, the competition is being held in the United States to celebrate the centenary year. There is a lot of excitement ahead of the final due to the special importance.
Argentina have had numerous disappointments when it comes to major tournaments over the years. One has to go back to 1993 for the last time the national team won the Copa America. This was despite the national team reaching the final in three times since then. The Argentina national team has finished as the runners up in the Copa America in 2004, 2007, and 2015. Another runners up medal would be hugely disappointing. There has been a lot of support for Argentina to be crowned as the champions in 2016. Tevez feels that the national team deserves the success after having experienced a lot of pain in the last few decades.
“Already in the other America’s Cup was unrivaled. I think the group a championship deserves because in the last Cup and the World Cup has taken always good advantage and has been shown to the end that is a team that is unrivaled. I think which it is a very important step and I hope the boys are given because they deserve it, because they looked so much. I’ll see you at home but I feel very happy when they are going through the boys and hopefully on Sunday they can be give,” said the striker ahead of the final.
