Martin Demichelis isn’t really playing a big role for Manchester City as the Argentine defender is mostly utilized as a back-up option in the Premier League. However, even though he is not getting much playing time in official matches for his club, Demichelis is starting to appear in the headlines of magazines or websites related to football as he is being accused of breaching a number of rules involving soccer betting.
The 35 year old defender is blamed for of having broken worldwide rules which were created with the purpose of prohibiting players from betting on any football activity whether this is outside or inside of their respective domestic league.
Rumour has it that Demichelis was tempted into betting after he took advantage of a promo code at at bookie-bonus-code.co.uk, which gave him odds on a football match that he simply couldn’t pass up on.
“It is alleged the player committed 12 breaches of FA Rule E8 concerning football matches between 22 January 2016 and 28 January 2016.’’ The Football Association said in a statement as the football authority revealed details in relation to the recent betting issues involving Manchester City Martin Demichelis.
The Argentine defender accepted the charge from the Football Association and now the governing authority has to decide what punishment they will give to the fringe player of Manchester City.
This punishment is expected to be a fine or a ban but nonetheless is not something that Demichelis will be happy to receive as the player is already going through an underwhelming season by serving a substitute role on the sidelines of the Etihad Stadium as he has had to watch how Nicolas Otamendi, Bacary Sagna, Eliaquim Mangala and Aleksandar Kolarov all get playing time ahead of him.
This season is not a very memorable one for Martin Demichelis or for Manchester City as the Premier League club is out of contention for winning the league title despite having one of the most expensive squads in the entire English league while Demichelis has had to settle with a spot on the sidelines.
