After the relative successes of mid-week comes another match, which we really need to win if we’re to have any chance of getting back into the Champions League next season! Whilst Arsene Wenger may rightly back the Blackburn coach Steve Kean, these are the types of teams and matches we need to be taking all three points from – even if it is away from home!
With Arteta looking like he has played in the centre of Arsenal’s midfield for the past few years (rather than the past few minutes) the new Arsenal side is slowly taking shape. Away from home we can rely on the pace and power of Theo Walcott and Robin van Persie a bit more than at home – with our counter-attacking at it’s best when teams are urged forwards themselves by the home crowd.
Alex Song is back in the mix after his suspension, and we finally get to see Gervinho play – having been sent off in his first Premier League match we’ve not really had a chance to judge him yet!

Blackburn have had no midweek match, and will have the passion and attitude to sit resiliently infront of their defence, and hope for something on the break. They might venture forwards a touch more after the break (scoreline depending) but in the main they are hoping to exasperate Arsenal. They will be a threat on set-pieces though, with (future Arsenal?) centre-back Chris Samba amongst their top scorers last season.
We think Arsenal will take this one, though with all the injuries, and the fact that we are still only just gelling as a team, it will be close. We’re betting on 2-1 (8/1 at Paddy Power).
